Inspired by Cyrano de Bergerac, the play

Cyrano is a poet and a soldier, a brawler and an incurable romantic… a hero. The first among men and totally lost among women. Blessed with being brilliant at everything, cursed by having the biggest nose in all of France.

Cyrano is hopelessly in love with Roxane, but he is too ashamed to confess his love for fear of rejection, so instead becomes a protector, a confidante and friend. Christian, a young handsome Captain but not the sharpest sword in the armoury, catches Roxane’s eye and she begs Cyrano to keep him safe. With his mighty heart breaking, Cyrano sets about his task, using his unique skills as a poet and writing for Christian ravishing love letters to Roxane, with out her realizing that it’s Cyrano's words she falls for.

Cyrano is an idealistic, combining outstanding courage, sword-fighting skill, resourcefulness, and a distinct sense of honor and justice. Cyrano defies arrogant authority and oppressive orders. He values honor, faith, morality and duty.

Our Armagnac shares some of Cyrano’s qualities. Both come from a time when integrity and honor ruled supreme, and both have depth of character. Both are noble but not elitist. Both are spirits of values and of value. Both have a great nose, an indicator of a great soul and of a great Armagnac.

The legend inspired the creation of 3 Armagnacs. The first, Roxane, is transparent, full of fruit and freshness, perfect in cocktails. The others are 25 and 50 year old blends, delicious when sipped neat. They are complex, with a real depth of character, much like the man himself.

In an age in which romance is reduced to one-night stands, Cyrano’s chaste and faithful love of Roxane stands true. Where courage is corrupted by cowardice, Cyrano’s fighting spirit calls for cheerful confidence in battle, and in an egalitarian age where no one dare stand out, Cyrano’s jaunty pose and noble nose remind us that those who have their noses stuck up in the air may not be snobs…they may simply be gazing at the stars.
